Hi, everyone. I'm here to ask for some help. Some of you who follow me on tumblr may remember a long time ago when I made a post about one of my cats, Worm. Worm had a disease called feline plasma cell pododermatitis. It's also known as "pillow foot". The foot pads of the cat become inflamed and pouchy. In most cases there is no harm and the cat requires no treatment. In severe cases, the pad can tear open and become infected. Essentially, the entire paw becomes a bloody mass. Some cases require amputation of the pads. It's connected to feline immunodeficiency virus, but there's not enough known about it to really understand how or why. All I know is that it weakened Worm.
Worm has since passed and I thought I was done with FPCPD. Unfortunately, I became aware recently that Worm's brother (littermate) Artemis is suffering from the same disease. Already, it has begun to look bad. He's going to need treatment, there's no way around it. If he does not receive treatment then he very well may face a slow and painful death.
The most common treatment is monthly injections of methylprednisolone acetate (depomedrol). My current vet gave these shots to Worm for anywhere between $12-$20 for each shot, although a cursory search shows that it can get quite expensive. Plus there's the amount due for a vet visit at all and any further care he'll need, ect;
What I'm asking is if you can help me afford to get Arty the help he needs. I don't have the money to spare each month. All I ask is for even a dollar, whatever you can spare, so that I can put it in my savings and confirm that I have enough for him to get cared for. My goal is enough to cover shots and vet visits for at least a year.
If, by unfortunate fate, Artemis does not pull through, I will donate any leftover money to a no kill shelter. If he makes a full recovery and no longer needs shots, then the same stands. All leftover money will go to a no kill shelter. I've never donated to a shelter but I'm sure I'll have a way to prove it. Same goes for the vet bills, I'll photograph them after each visit if people need proof of where the money is going.
Please, if you can't/won't donate, please share this post so that others may see it. If you want to donate, you can send whatever you wish to my paypal: areyoshi@gmail.com
This is Artemis:
